NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the native workof Alexander Ossipov (TOTUR) in Heaven and Earth. The exhibition opens April 5, 2018 and runs through April 25, 2018 as soon as an start reception upon Thursday, April 5 from 6-8 pm. Any art enthusiast who enjoys thought-provoking artworks and meeting gifted and engaging artists is encouraged to attend.
Alexander Ossipov (TOTUR) creates dense and detailed oil paintings combining myth and memory, earthly and divine. The player distorts and stylizes his subjects, paring them alongside to geometric forms and blocks of color. Allegorical figures and animals are fractured and reassembled in shallow compositions, the pigmented planes and facets flattened onto the characterize plane.
In Ossipov’s The Abduction of Europe, a nude female figure and a bull’s head allowance a cosmic space. Without a horizon, the two float in an uncomfortable space, the floundering, twisted body reaching in vain for the animal. The Trinity. Guests features three figures that allude to the holy trinity. Dressed in abstracted and heavily patterned robes in the same way as Byzantine halos of fresh radiating from their heads, the three holy figures bow to upon the way of being of stained glass. Finally, Ossipov’s The Two Moons depicts an allegorical horned figure alongside an unknown anthropomorphic shape, each patterned next stripes of earthy color. In the background, two turquoise and brick red orbs slice across a black ground, creating a sense of dueling opposition.

Heaven and Earth is a society exhibition featuring 14 artists’ explorations of the beauty within both the sublime and the everyday. Encompassing a variety of styles and media that shove the boundaries of both established and contemporary convention, this exhibition invites the viewer to find how each artist’s vision encapsulates the world we rouse in and what lies beyond.
